My Personal Rant About The Books I Found And Some Things You Should Note ...
Those that follow me on my blog at www.arowana-care.com/aroblog will know that I'm very frank and will tell you as it is. There are several points to note and clarify about my descriptions for each book as well as some general observations that I thought I'd share with you so that there are no confusions.
1) (FOR MY ENGLISH READERS ONLY) I have tried my best to find english books for my readers out there who does not understand chinese. Some of these books will have english versions but PLEASE bear in mind that in SOME of them, the standard of english is much to be desired. It is to be expected as they are not mainstream books and are probably translated directly from chinese. However, I would just like to add that THE BEAUTIFULLY TAKEN PHOTOS SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS! Most of you are probably buying these books because you want to see the fishes in their full splendor.. so I will leave it as that! I think you know where I'm coming from. :-)
2) I have one line listed as "Language" in the description for each book. Here if I noted it as, for example, "English/Chinese in same book". This means that the book has BOTH English and Chinese translations in the SAME BOOK. Hope this is clear.
3) I have another line listed as "Book Dimensions" in the description for each book. This measurement is in inches.
4) I also cannot guarantee that the translations are word for word from chinese to english and vice versa. What I notice is in some of the books, there are sections in chinese and others in english but only in about 10% of the books here.
5) As you can see, I do not carry many of each books because of two reasons.
i) This is my passion and I'm doing this more because I enjoy scrounging around different localities looking for cool fish books. So I'm not keen to carry so much stock in hand. This is especially true for the books published in the last year or two. Should be able to get more if needed.
ii) This one is true for most of the rest. AND ie.. I just can't find MORE of them! .. and that is the honest truth! Some of them, I have found by chance while visiting the many shops that I have gone to. So if they do run out on my site, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to find anymore. These are truly like antiques of the fish book world!
SO in view of point ii), YOU HAVE BEEN LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 2 OF THE SAME BOOK ON MY SITE. This will ensure that everyone has a fair chance of getting a copy. If you really want more, please drop me an email and I'll see whether I can get more for you.
